Job description

Weyerhaeuser's Oregon Trucking operations has an opening for a Logistics Planner at our Eugene, Oregon trucking office. The position is a full-time, non-exempt position with salary level dependent on experience. The work week is Monday through Friday, with rotating shifts covering the operating hours between 4:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

As the Logistics Planner, your fundamental purpose is to serve as the liaison between harvest units and haul units. Your key function is to identify and implement the optimal and most cost-effective method to transport logs utilizing dispatch software. Additionally, normal duties consist of routine dispatching, scheduling, planning, data entry, and other duties as needed.

Key Functions:

  • Work with team of planners to schedule company and contract drivers to ensure efficient use of all assets.
  • Optimize daily orders generated by the logging operations, scheduling pickups and destination points to coincide with mill and log operation needs.
  • Use integrated dispatch software to track loads ordered by each operation.
  • Accurately update data in the computer database as driver or log loader calls in information to manage transportation, and route optimization.
  • Upload and implement Log Loader orders for next day through the Loader Application and web board.
  • Communications over the radio, computer, and telephone, which are fast-paced and account for 50% of the workload.
  • Maintain daily communication with drivers, mills, operations, and marketing to ensure that the production goals are met.
  • First level operational exceptions require coordination and communication with truck managers.
  • Respond to absence calls from drivers, assuring their driving activities are covered for the day and required documentation is completed.
  • Ability to analyze data to improve efficiency in logistics system

  • High school diploma/GED (or higher); Associates degree (or higher) in related field preferred.
  • Proven commitment to safety with knowledge of safety processes.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with truck drivers, contractors, harvest managers, mill customers and others.
  • Ability to approach tasks with professionalism and take initiative to ensure successful completion.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to build customer relationships.
  • Strong organizational and attention to details skills.
  • Proficient with computer usage and data input using Microsoft Office and integrated logistics software.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks.
  • Able to work independently and part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work variable hours.
  • Background in truck transportation and DOT regulations preferred.

What We Offer...

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $58,000 - $88,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
