A Brief Overview
The Supply Chain Transportation Specialist is responsible for overseeing the efficient, timely, and compliant movement of goods within a third-party logistics (3PL) environment. This position coordinates all aspects of freight logistics, including less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload, small parcel, rail, and chartered air shipments, ensuring seamless inbound and outbound logistics operations. The Specialist serves as a central point of communication between internal teams and external partners, maintaining operational alignment with customer requirements, service-level agreements, and regulatory standards.
What you will do

  • Schedule all inbound and outbound shipments using the Communications Management Operations System (CMOS)
  • Ensure compliance with all Government requirements related to quotes and quote retention
  • Applies and upholds transportation policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Review and assess transportation costs, equipment availability, and efficiency to optimize logistics operations
  • Evaluate and rate vendors using established criteria, documenting and submitting all required corrective actions as necessary
  • Maintain and archive accountability records, ensuring they are accessible to relevant Army supply accountability system stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the PM SSV Lead and OCIE Lead to ensure adequate labor support for shipping operations
  • Monitor and track daily inbound and outbound shipment volumes
  • Build relationships with freight vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, state and local transportation regulations.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment
  • Promote Peckham's vision values and services to all customers and stakeholders
  • Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned


What you will Need

  • High School (HS) Diploma and/or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • 1 - 3 years of experience with transportation scheduling and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) certification by completing the Government-provided AMMO-62 course, "Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials," within one calendar year of hire
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (required to obtain and maintain Federal Security Clearance)
  • Ability to successfully pass and maintain both Federal and State security background checks
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management System
  • Knowledge of Transportation Systems

Physical Demands: Manufacturing and Logistics
This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and operating heavy machinery.
