Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a skilled Digital Systems Engineer who loves collaboration and being a part of something big, to join our team. As a Leidos Digital Systems Engineer, you will blend Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, and technical Project Management to guide requirements definition, architecture working groups, and System Integration across the engineering lifecycle. You will leverage Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to establish seamless interoperability, oversee Risk Management within modeling environments, and deliver engineering solutions at the speed of relevance.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and expand the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) conceptual model space to capture complex stakeholder requirements and establish end-to-end systems architecture and requirement-to-verification traceability.
  • Formulate, establish, and lead dedicated multi-discipline requirements and architecture working groups to ensure engineering development efforts and technical project management milestones are aligned with expectations.
  • Develop, debug, and implement automated scripts using Apache Velocity / Velocity Template Language (VTL) within Cameo Systems Modeler to support complex Report Automation, Documentations compilation, and the autogeneration of dynamic Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Drive system integration by linking engineering toolsets and open-source data models across the product lifecycle to simulate real-world programs and test digital integrated ecosystems.
  • Perform risk identification and risk management modeling within system architectures to establish standardized tracking methodology
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, template validation, and syntax refinement to guarantee high-fidelity report creation and data consistency within model repositories.
  • Foster strong Teamwork and Work Collaboratively across matrixed organizations
Basic Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 2+ years of experience; OR a bachelor's degree in engineering, general science, or physics with 4+ years of core systems engineering and systems architecture experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing architectural system concepts, structural diagrams (BDDs, IBDs), and model-based configurations within Cameo Systems Modeler or other No Magic tools.
  • Proven experience building and applying template scripts (such as Apache Velocity) to drive report automation and technical documentations generation inside system modeling environments.
  • Prior experience leading or coordinating engineering tasks, showing foundational technical project management capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with a history of delivering internal/external briefings, design reviews, or technical demonstrations.
  • U.S. Citizenship is strictly required. Candidate must possess an active Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications.
  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 2+ years of experience
  • Experience implementing baseline risk management tracking methodologies or risk mitigation structures inside SysML models.
  • Strong proficiency in model troubleshooting, parsing script errors, and structural verification/validation rules.
  • Familiarity with open architecture paradigms, Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), or enterprise product line System Integration concepts.
