Job description

The Human Resource Generalist performs a crucial role in the management of day-to-day HR Duties at a professional level for multiple business units. The HR Generalist performs tasks in some or all of the following functional areas: Day one New Hire on-boarding, performance management, employee relations, benefit administration, training and development and compliance with employment laws.  The HR Generalist will work closely with leaders to drive performance and foster a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to team members and management on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Manages leave of absence administration and collaborate closely with third party vendor to manage FMLA/LOA requests and Short-Term Disability claims.
  • Conduct effective, non-biased and thorough investigations by partnering with HR Manager. Ensures all investigations receive prompt resolution.
  • Assists with I9 and E-Verify Management to include day one processing, audits, and communication with those responsible for the onboarding process.
  • Provide assistance with Benefits Administration.
  • Plan and execute team member engagement activities and programs.
  • Manage unemployment claims: providing a timely response to claims filed and management of unemployment hearings.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. 
  • Recommends innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Works with the HR Management team to help monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Work with other HR team members to assist both drivers and non-drivers on a timely basis. Answer emails and phone calls in a timely manner to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date team member records.
  • Provide recommendations for innovative approaches, policies and procedures to ensure continual improvement in efficiency of the department and services performed.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business/HR Management or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Human Resource Specialist experience required. Previous HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Professional Human Resource (PHR), Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
  • Experience with multi-state environment preferred; Logistics/Trucking Industry experience a plus.

  • Full Pay Range: $49,657.00-$77,924.00
