Job description

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a solid background in maintaining and repairing heavy machinery. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience, a comprehensive understanding of various mechanical and electrical systems, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including diesel engines, powertrains, transmissions, and brakes.
  • Execute welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, both AC and DC.
  • Diagnose and repair machine hydraulics and climate control/AC systems.
  • Operate heavy equipment for maintenance and diagnostic purposes.
  • Adhere to and maintain the company's equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with management and operators to ensure equipment is maintained to high standards.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and have the authority to halt operations if safety cannot be assured.
  • Utilize computer and Windows operating systems for diagnostic and repair tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in repairing heavy equipment (4 years preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge and at least 2 years of experience in:
  • Welding (all types) and fabrication
  • Electrical systems (AC/DC)
  • Machine hydraulics and function
  • Diesel engine repair
  • Powertrain/Transmission/Brake repair
  • Climate control/AC repair
  • Computer and Windows operating environment
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting all phases of mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Proven ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
  • Strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively with management and operators.
  • Proficient in working safely, with the authority to stop work if safety conditions are not met.
  • Provide basic hand tools; the company will supply all other necessary and troubleshooting tools.
  • Diesel training and certification preferred.

Additional Information:
  • Position requires adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Opportunities for overtime are available depending on workload and project requirements.
  • Willingness to undergo hands on supervised training.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
  • Salary will be $30-$35 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
  • 40 hours per week guaranteed; overtime available as needed
