Job description

Overall Job Summary
Tractor Supply Company is currently hiring for our 2027 Distribution Center (DC) Operations Summer Internship Program in Hagerstown, MD. This is an onsite, 11-week internship beginning in May 2027.
The Distribution Center Operations Internship is designed for students interested in building a career in supply chain and operations leadership. Interns gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced Distribution Center while working alongside experienced leaders and learning the day-to-day operations that support Tractor Supply stores and customers.
Throughout the summer, interns will gain exposure to areas such as inbound and outbound operations, inventory flow, productivity, safety, quality, and Team Member leadership. Interns will have opportunities to lead, solve operational challenges, analyze performance, and contribute to meaningful projects. The program is designed to develop future Distribution Center leaders and serves as an early career pathway toward opportunities such as a Distribution Center Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
  • Gain hands-on experience across Distribution Center operations while developing an understanding of product flow, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Partner with Distribution Center leaders and Team Members to support daily operational priorities and performance goals.
  • Develop leadership skills through opportunities to communicate expectations, build relationships, and support Team Members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analyze operational challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions that support business performance.
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives focused on improving operational efficiency, quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and sound decision-making when navigating changing priorities and operational challenges.
  • Take initiative, demonstrate accountability, and apply feedback to continuously develop throughout the internship.
  • Complete additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Management, or a related field; rising seniors preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through previous employment, internships, campus organizations, extracurricular activities, or other experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and navigate ambiguity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to relocate to and reside in the Hagerstown, MD area for the duration of the internship.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
  • Previous internship, work, leadership, or operations experience.
  • Coursework or experience related to supply chain, distribution, logistics, transportation, operations, or general management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others, delegate responsibilities, solve problems, and make decisions.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to take initiative and be accountable for results.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with Team Members at all levels.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn through hands-on experience.
  • Interest in pursuing a future career in Distribution Center operations and leadership.

Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a physical environment that is subject to temperature extremes, movement of mobile and fixed equipment, and other conditions associated with a warehouse operation
