Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager leads operations across receiving, inspection, processing, transportation, stocking, order fulfillment, shipping, cycle counting, and inventory control. This role directly supervises 2–3 supervisors and indirectly oversees 20–50 hourly employees. Ensures adherence to company policies, drives continuous improvement, and partners with account managers to meet or exceed all customer contractual and operational requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a safe work environment by implementing and maintaining safety controls
  • Provide departmental leadership and communicate a clear strategic vision
  • Manage direct reports, including hiring, development, and disciplinary actions
  • Conduct performance evaluations to maintain a skilled and motivated team
  • Foster a positive work environment aligned with organizational goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Oversee warehousing and inventory storage operations
  • Coordinate timely delivery of materials and supplies to all departments
  • Oversee processing of receiving reports for all incoming shipments
  • Enforce material tracking and quality control systems
  • Ensure accuracy of all material movement documentation
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all materials entering and leaving the warehouse
  • Monitor attendance and timekeeping
  • Train and certify associates on lift truck operations (Trainer certification required)
  • Operate lift trucks as needed (certification required)
  • Support Open Book Management principles and ownership mindset


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed partially in a controlled atmosphere. Some exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures and weather—for moderate periods of time is possible. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting 40%, standing/walking 60%. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; talk and hear.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or GED with a demonstrated record of effective leadership and results
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain and/or inventory management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate costs, risks, and benefits
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and financial acumen
  • Solid analytical and presentation skills
