Job Summary
Directs the logistics functions of MacLean Power Systems (MPS), including oversight of distribution operations and network transportation. Functions that report to this position include both internal (MPS) resources and external (3PL) resources. Responsible for ensuring that MPS logistics operations are effective in terms of external customer expectations and internal financial goals.
Job Duties
  • Manages all aspects of 3PL relationship. Works with 3PL to resolve quality, shipping or invoicing issues, including leading internal and external team responsible for storage and shipping of MPS products.
  • Serves as primary contact for network transportation matters and provides subject matter expertise regarding all aspects of transportation management.
  • Oversees transportation planning functions (including carrier effectiveness, whether 3PL-contracted or direct contracts with carriers); operational key performance measurement and improvement; and continuous improvement programs (service/cost).
  • Coordinates activity among 3PL and internal corporate departments (Plants, Sales, Customer Service, IT, MacLean Senior, etc.)
  • Establishes policies and procedures governing transportation, warehousing, and inventory management, and/or ensures compliance with MPS directives in these areas.
  • Assesses logistics function performance (both internal and external resources). Identifies areas for improvement and risk mitigation and recommends operational changes to improve efficiency and/or reduce costs.

Serves as an escalation point for operational and service issues related to logistics operations.
  • Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management and termination.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, direction and goal setting for the department or function in collaboration with senior management.
  • Ensures that internal and external logistics resources comply with all MPS policies and procedures for Safety, Environment, and Quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree, in supply chain or engineering discipline ideally (but not required). Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in the supply chain discipline, with significant background managing complex transportation networks (both warehousing and transportation).
  • Prior experience working for a 3PL or transportation provider (carrier) is desirable.

  • Strong leadership ability, with emphasis on teamwork and solution-focus.
  • Detail-oriented; able to multi-task effectively and self-direct the timely completion of multiple, competing priorities.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities; able to distill complex issues into actionable tasks.
