Job Title: Revenue Accounting Clerk Logistics Department Accounting / Finance

Reports To Revenue Accounting Manager


Position Summary The Revenue Accounting Clerk Logistics is responsible for accurately recording, reconciling, and supporting revenue transactions related to logistics and transportation services. This role supports timely and accurate invoicing, revenue recognition, and month-end close activities for commercial logistics operations, including freight, warehousing, storage, accessorials, and related services. The position works closely with operations, billing, and sales teams to ensure revenue is complete, accurate, and aligned with contractual terms.


Key Responsibilities Revenue Accounting & Posting

  • Review and record logistics revenue transactions in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and proper account coding.
  • Support revenue recognition for freight, transportation, storage-in-transit (SIT), warehouse handling, accessorial charges, and other logistics services.
  • Verify revenue postings align with operational data such as work tickets, rate agreements, contracts, and customer orders.

Billing & Invoicing Support

  • Assist with preparing, reviewing, and releasing customer invoices for logistics and commercial accounts.
  • Ensure invoices reflect correct rates, services performed, and contractual terms.
  • Work with billing and operations teams to resolve discrepancies prior to invoicing.

Reconciliations & Controls

  • Reconcile revenue-related clearing accounts and subledgers to the general ledger.
  • Assist with month-end revenue close activities, including accruals and deferrals as assigned.
  • Support internal controls by maintaining documentation and audit trails for revenue transactions.

Collaboration & Issue Resolution

  • Partner with operations, dispatch, warehouse, and sales teams to clarify revenue issues and service details.
  • Research and resolve revenue variances, posting errors, or customer billing inquiries.
  • Escalate complex or unusual revenue issues to senior accounting staff.

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Prepare or assist with revenue reports, schedules, and analysis for management review.
  • Identify recurring issues or inefficiencies and suggest process improvements.
  • Assist with special projects related to revenue accounting, system improvements, or process documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 13 years of accounting, billing, or revenue support experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or service-based industries.
  • Basic understanding of revenue accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, transportation, freight, or warehousing operations.
  • Familiarity with work tickets, rate tables, contracts, or accessorial billing.
