REPORTS TO: Logistics Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves loading, unloading, and storing materials both in the warehouse and in the yard. It includes servicing customers efficiently while maintaining a neat, clean, and organized yard environment. Additionally, the position is responsible for protecting inventory and safeguarding company assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safety First - 24/7
    • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
    • Take personal responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.
    • Actively participate in safety huddles and utilize the Safety Observation System (SOS).
    • Promptly report unsafe conditions and behaviors.
    • Consistently use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
    • Maintain full adherence to all company policies at all times.
  • Operate lift truck to load and unload trucks and rail cars as directed by the supervisor.
  • Store materials in proper locations within the lumberyard.
  • Complete necessary reports, including orders filled, materials received, and forklift inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including leveling lumber units daily.
  • Provide sales assistance to customers.
    • Become familiar with inventory and material locations.
    • Make deliveries when necessary.
    • Assist with deliveries as needed.
    • Handle materials properly to avoid damage.
  • Follow company clothing policy, which includes wearing company-issued clothing at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques to handle materials efficiently and safely.
  • Familiarity with building materials and products, including their proper handling and storage.
  • Positive, friendly, and customer-focused attitude with a commitment to providing excellent service.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED, desired.
  • Valid operator's license.
  • Must be insurable under company vehicle policies.

REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Lift 80# from floor to waist; lift 60# from waist to shoulder.
  • Carry 80# over a distance exceeding 12 feet.
  • Push 100# in a wheeled cart.
  • Bend, stoop or squat to floor level repeatedly.
  • Reach overhead to grasp materials.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.
  • Work with mechanical equipment on a daily basis.
  • Be able to shovel snow.
