Description
The Logistics Analyst is responsible for planning, analyzing, and optimizing the movement of raw materials, components, work-in-process inventory, and finished upholstered motion furniture throughout the supply chain. This role ensures cost-effective, on-time delivery while supporting manufacturing schedules, inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Logistics Analyst collaborates closely with procurement, production planning, customer service, warehouse operations, carriers, and suppliers to improve transportation performance and overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze inbound and outbound freight activity to identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.
  • Coordinate transportation for domestic and international shipments of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Monitor carrier performance, freight costs, transit times, and delivery accuracy using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop and maintain logistics dashboards and reports for management review.
  • Optimize transportation routes, shipment consolidation, and freight utilization to reduce overall logistics expenses.
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure materials arrive in time to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Support inventory management by analyzing stock levels, replenishment timing, and warehouse capacity.
  • Work with suppliers, freight carriers, distribution centers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to resolve shipping issues and improve service levels.
  • Monitor inbound materials such as upholstery fabrics, foam, wood components, steel mechanisms, motors, electronics, hardware, and packaging supplies.
  • Ensure timely shipment of finished upholstered motion furniture to distribution centers, retailers, and direct customers.
  • Investigate freight claims, shipping discrepancies, shortages, and damaged shipments.
  • Maintain transportation records, freight invoices, and shipping documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze transportation contracts and assist with carrier selection and rate negotiations.
  • Support ERP, WMS, and TMS system accuracy by maintaining transportation and inventory data.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Assist with annual freight budgeting, forecasting, and logistics cost analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and customer shipping requirements.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of logistics, transportation, or supply chain analysis experience, preferably within furniture, manufacturing, or consumer goods industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Power Query, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in upholstered furniture or motion furniture manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of inbound materials planning and production scheduling.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • APICS/ASCM, CSCMP, or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
