Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall management, performance, and continuous improvement of warehouse operations across both the main production warehouse and off-site frozen storage facility.


This position partners closely with Production, Scheduling, Transportation, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Human Resources to ensure operational goals, customer requirements, and company objectives are achieved. This role is responsible for developing leaders, improving warehouse performance, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse supervisors, leads, drivers, and warehouse personnel to achieve departmental safety, quality, service, and productivity goals.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold supervisors and team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance standards.
  • Oversee daily operations of the production warehouse and frozen storage facility, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, storage, material movement, and product rotation.
  • Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and shipped on time while maintaining inventory integrity.
  • Coordinate staffing, workflow, inventory movement, and warehouse priorities across both warehouse locations while partnering with Production, Scheduling, Transportation, Purchasing, and Customer Service to support operational demands.
  • Monitor labor utilization, departmental KPIs, inventory accuracy, workflow, and operational performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, SQF, USDA, FDA, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain warehouse organization, sanitation, housekeeping, and equipment standards.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Department to ensure warehouse equipment, forklifts, docks, racks, and material handling equipment are maintained and repaired promptly.
  • Support inventory cycle counts, audits, investigations, and corrective actions to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Participate in safety programs, audits, investigations, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, monitor departmental KPIs, and communicate operational performance to plant leadership.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, capital requests, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, onboarding, employee development, performance management, investigations, corrective action, and succession planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of progressive warehouse leadership experience in manufacturing, food production, distribution, or cold storage.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience with inventory management, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, and logistics.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and experience with ERP and warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as business needs require.

Work Environment

This position operates in office, warehouse, refrigerated, frozen storage, shipping, receiving, and food production environments. The employee regularly works around forklifts, powered industrial equipment, loading docks, warehouse racking, refrigerated and freezer storage areas, and food manufacturing operations.


The employee may be exposed to cold temperatures, temperature fluctuations, wet or slippery walking surfaces, moving equipment, forklift traffic, production noise, and food processing activities. Required personal protective equipment must be worn at all times while working in designated operational areas.


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, reach, and move throughout warehouse and production facilities during the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen warehouse environments for extended periods as needed.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment as required or become certified if needed.
  • Ability to inspect warehouse operations, storage areas, loading docks, and inventory locations throughout the facility.
  • Ability to use computers, tablets, handheld scanners, and mobile devices for warehouse management and reporting.
