Operations Manager for The Racquets Club of Short Hills

About the Club
The Racquets Club of Short Hills, established in 1929, is a private racquets and social club entering an exciting new chapter under new ownership. We're rebuilding the club's operations from the ground up with modern systems and a high standard of execution — and we're looking for the operator who can make the day-to-day run flawlessly.
The Role
The Operations Manager keeps the club running. You lead the staff and own day-to-day operations — scheduling, training, coordination, and the hundred moving pieces that make a club feel effortless to members. Where the Guest Relations Manager hosts the experience, you make sure the team and the floor are ready to deliver it, every single day.
What You'll Own

  • Day-to-day operations across the club — opening to close, the floor running smoothly
  • Staff management: hiring support, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supervision of front-line and facilities staff
  • Team coordination across departments — racquets, facilities, food & beverage, and front desk working in sync
  • Setting and enforcing service standards, procedures, and operational playbooks
  • Facilities readiness — courts, common areas, and amenities maintained and event-ready
  • Problem-solving in real time, keeping members' days seamless
  • Partnering closely with the Business Manager on staff hours and attendance (you manage and schedule the team; payroll processing sits with the Business Manager — a clean handoff between the two is essential)
What We're Looking For

  • Proven operations or floor-management experience, ideally in a club, hospitality, fitness, or service business
  • A strong people leader who can train, motivate, and hold a team to standard
  • Calm under pressure and genuinely good at logistics and coordination
  • Comfortable with modern scheduling and operations software
  • Hands-on and present — this is a floor role, not a desk role
  • Evenings/weekends as club operations require
Why Join
Step into a leadership role at a pivotal moment, with the autonomy to build the team and the systems the right way. Competitive compensation, club privileges, and a real stake in the club's turnaround.
