Job description

The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all logistics, warehousing, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and fulfillment operations for the organization. This position oversees inventory accuracy, warehouse operations, and fulfillment performance while leading the Logistics team and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Supervisor Title: Director of Supply Chain

Direct Reports: Logistics Team

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS

 

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Logistics team including, but not limited to, employee evaluations, performance discussions, disciplinary actions, and development planning.
  • Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and accountability standards.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and workforce planning to support operational demands.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead execution of peak holiday season logistics operations, including coordination of seasonal staffing, workload planning, and flexible scheduling to support increased order volume and fulfillment demands.

Logistics & Distribution Management

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics activities, including supplier receipts, retail deliveries, e-commerce shipments, and corporate orders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of all customer, retail, and internal inventory transfers.
  • Develop and maintain shipping strategies that balance service levels and transportation costs.
  • Manage relationships with parcel carriers.

Inventory Management

  • Own inventory accuracy across all Freezers, Coldrooms, and warehouse locations .
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Production, and Retail teams to ensure inventory availability and proper stock levels.
  • Collaborate with the ERP & Demand Planning team to develop and oversee cycle counts, inventory control processes, and inventory aging initiatives that drive inventory accuracy, optimize stock levels, and minimize obsolete inventory.

Process Improvement & Systems Management

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve logistics operational workflows and within Odoo.
  • Partner with Supply Chain leadership on strategic initiatives and operational improvements.

Compliance & Safety

Maintain compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations where applicable.

Ensure proper training and certification requirements are maintained for logistics personnel.

Financial & KPI Performance

  • Monitor key performance indicators including inventory accuracy, order fulfillment accuracy, on-time shipping performance, freight cost per shipment, and labor productivity.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

SKILLS

  • Strong leadership and team development abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead change and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably Odoo.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of logistics, warehousing, shipping, or supply chain experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience managing teams.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and warehouse operations.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Forklift Certification required or ability to obtain certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires regular bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and move throughout warehouse environments for extended periods.
  • Must be able to operate computer systems and perform data entry.
  • Must be able to work in warehouse, freezer, and shipping environments as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Combination of desk, Freezer, Coldrooms, and Warehouse environment.
  • Requires flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as business needs dictate.
  • Requires flexibility to work extended hours during peak production and shipping seasons.
