Responsibilities
The Export Team Leader is responsible for the distribution of export documents according to instructions from the direct supervisor and ensuring accuracy and compliance to instructions as well as leading subordinate staff.
  • Daily operations which may include customs clearance, shipping, labeling, and distribution of cargo according to customer's requirements. Communicate directly with customers daily.
  • Direct management of assigned team members. This includes the distribution of accounts and workload, training of back-up staff, and providing direct training to team members. The team leader must be aware of workload of each team member to allow for highest quality performance within the team. Daily monitoring of the team members is likely to be necessary. Manage coverage when team members are absent or during holidays.
  • Distribute documents to the correct team members. Redirect e-mails and other instructions to the correct team members.
  • Organize and update SOP for accounts within the team.
  • Communicate with overseas branches, customers, vendors, Export related authorities and agencies and sales.
  • Ensure all staff is in compliance with all company policies and training.
  • With the help of the Supervisor, conducts general staff training.
  • Handle other job assignments as determined by the direct supervisor.
  • Working Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm with overtime as needed to meet the business demands
  • Hourly Pay Range: $28.00 - $30.00. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At NEU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills.
  • 3 + years department or freight forwarding industry experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills and inclination.
  • Good communications skill - listening, providing and receiving feedback.
  • Analytical skill (Familiar with logistics concept and planning concept)
  • Knowledge of international commerce (Incoterm, method, customs regulations etc.)
  • Knowledge of Consolidator system
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), State, Federal and Interstate
  • Commerce commission (ICC) regulation desirable
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate or significant or relevant or appropriate working experience. Some college desirable.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills - PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of Consolidator system
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), State, Federal and Interstate Commerce commission (ICC) regulation
  • Bilingual English/ Japanese a plus
