Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for assisting all lodging properties with large-scale property maintenance issues, troubleshooting, project management, training, and safety.  This position will also help with developing best practices that generate cost savings and additional value from our property assets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Property Maintenance:  Serve as the primary resource for General Managers and Chief Engineers with large-scale property maintenance issues or projects at their hotel. Responsible for troubleshooting major mechanical, structural, and cosmetic issues. Additionally, this role will fill in as needed for absent Chief Engineers.
  • Project Management: Handle special projects as assigned, including conducting research and providing recommendations. Responsible for the project management of site projects such as small renovations, refreshes, mechanical replacements, and emergency repairs.  Coordinates technical updates including manuals, parts, and preventive processes and procedures with vendors, sites, and systems.  Leads efforts in identifying new test strategies, and methodology to analyze, measure, and validate savings and the impact on site costs/budgets.
  • Training and Safety: Ensure safe operation of all equipment by providing training to maintenance employees.  Assists with rooms inventory and inspections per brand standards to control and monitor GSS scores. Encourage and educate staff at the property level regarding energy conservation, best practices, and SOPs.  Additionally would complete property evaluations.
  • People Management Support:  Responsible for assisting with interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing facility lodging employees as needed.
  • Self/Workload Management:  Responsible for effective self/workload management.  Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills.  Promotes collaboration and a positive, professional work environment.  Attends all daily, weekly, and monthly department/company meetings to ensure proper communication and planning. Adheres to all CSM Standard Operating Procedures. 

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    Education:  High School Diploma or GED required. 

    Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Must have 5+ years of related hotel and/or property maintenance experience and the following certifications:  Class C-2 boiler,  HVAC, CPO/ AFO.  Must have previous supervisory experience, working knowledge of MS Office, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.  Solid negotiation and delegation skills, excellent strategic and innovative thinking with strong problem and decision making skills.

    Travel:  This position may be required to travel up to 75% of the time which includes local travel. 

    Rate: $100,000 - $130,000 per year, plus bonus
