Position Overview:

The Clinical Informaticist II supports the effective management and optimization of enterprise health information systems through data governance, analytics, interoperability, and operational performance initiatives. Working collaboratively with clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders, this role analyzes clinical and operational data, evaluates system performance, and supports workflow optimization, data integrity, and reporting activities that enhance the reliability and effective use of healthcare information. The Clinical Informaticist II contributes to enterprise informatics initiatives by promoting standardized data management practices, improving information quality, and supporting data-driven operational decision-making.

Please note this position is contingent upon award (Aug/Sept 2026)   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support workflow stabilization and optimization by evaluating clinical workflows, analyzing user and operational needs, and recommending process improvements that enhance efficiency, usability, and quality of care.
  • Perform data quality management, data governance, and data integrity activities by validating clinical information, identifying data discrepancies, supporting governance initiatives, and promoting accurate, consistent, and reliable healthcare data.
  • Support reporting and analytics by analyzing clinical and operational data, developing reports and dashboards, and providing actionable insights that support operational decision-making and continuous performance improvement.
  • Monitor operational metrics and rapid intervention activities by evaluating key performance indicators, identifying emerging trends or risks, and collaborating with stakeholders to support timely issue resolution and operational stability.
  • Support interoperability, archiving, and data retention management activities by assisting with healthcare data exchange, information lifecycle management, and compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and informatics best practices.
  Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Clinical Informatics, Health Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting clinical informatics, healthcare information systems, electronic health records (EHRs), or digital health initiatives.
  • Experience supporting data quality management, data governance, clinical reporting, and healthcare analytics.
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing clinical workflows within healthcare environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation, optimization, or sustainment activities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability principles, clinical data standards, and information management best practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate technical information into actionable recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Oracle Health (Cerner), Epic, or other enterprise EHR platforms.
  • Experience supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), or other federal healthcare organizations.
  • Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, or other healthcare interoperability and terminology standards.
  • Experience developing dashboards, operational reports, or healthcare performance metrics.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPHIMS, AMIA Clinical Informatics, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or comparable healthcare informatics certifications.
