Locum - OB Hospitalist Physician – Christiansburg, VA

Start Date: 02/01/2026

Duration: Ongoing, as needed

Shift: Flexibility in shifts, 24/7 support available

Hours/Week: Based on assigned schedule

Employment Type: Locum Tenens

License/Certifications: Virginia state medical license (or eligible) required

Experience: At least 1 year of OB hospitalist experience preferred

Hourly Pay Rate: $214.50

What You'll Do

  • Provide emergent obstetric care in a busy hospital setting with an average of 72 deliveries per month
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including anesthesiologists, other OBs, general surgeons, and emergency physicians
  • Support the current in-house laborist model and manage assigned private patient cases
  • Manage emergent GYN cases as needed
  • Ensure patient safety and quality care throughout your shift
  • Participate in hospital protocols and procedures for maternity and OB services

What You Need

Required:

  • Medical license in Virginia or eligible for licensing
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ob/Gyn
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant hospitalist or OB hospitalist experience
  • Ability to handle emergent OB and GYN cases

Preferred:

  • Experience in a Level 3B NICU environment or familiarity with tertiary care centers
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

About the Assignment Join a busy, well-established hospital in Christiansburg, VA, providing emergent OB and GYN care. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive environment with significant backup and collaborative resources, including 24/7 anesthesia and MFM support. The hospital handles approximately 600 assigned and 40 unassigned OB patients, with a Level 3B NICU at the main facility.
