Familiarity with various electronic health record (EHR) systems and the ability to quickly adapt to different facility protocols is crucial. Successful integration relies on strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to build rapport with permanent staff. Locum NPs are often supported by team leads or supervisors who help them navigate any site-specific expectations and foster collaboration with physicians, nurses, and support staff. Being proactive in asking questions and clarifying responsibilities can further facilitate a smooth transition and effective patient care.
