About Locum Neurosurgeon Jobs:

General Job Responsibilities: 

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic neurosurgical procedures to the brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgeries, among others. 
  • Evaluate patients through physical examinations, imaging studies and diagnostic tests to determine the need for surgical intervention. 
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans. 
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care. 
  • Monitor and interpret patient conditions during and after surgery, adjusting treatment plans as needed. 
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.

  • Extensive knowledge of neurosurgical principles, techniques and technologies. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent manual dexterity and precision. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under pressure. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.

Minimum Education Requirements: 

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. 
  • Residency training program in neurosurgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

License & Certifications: 

  • Board certification in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) or an equivalent certifying body. 
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in California.

Experience: 

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum neurosurgeon positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
