Licensed Medical Provider — Military Readiness Examinations

K2-nho is bidding a U.S. Army National Guard contract to provide medical readiness examination services to the Maryland Army National Guard. We are hiring the provider who will perform that work. This posting is contingent on contract award, expected 30 September 2026.

We are considering NPs, PAs, and physicians. The contract requires a "licensed medical provider," and all three qualify.

The Role in Plain Terms

You examine Soldiers and document whether they are medically ready to serve. That is the whole job.

• No treatment. No prescribing, no procedures, no follow-up care. Evaluation and screening only.
• No call. No nights, no weekends, no pager.
• No RVU targets. No productivity quotas, no billing, no insurance companies.
• Three days a week. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 0800–1630, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Eleven federal holidays off, plus a service blackout from 24 December through 4 January.

What You Will Do

• Conduct Periodic Health Assessments (PHA) for MDARNG Service Members
• Conduct Post-Deployment Health Assessments (PDHA) and Post-Deployment Health Re-Assessments (PDHRA)
• Perform physical examinations for aviation, special military schools, and miscellaneous military requirements
• Document assessments electronically in the Medical Operational Data System (MODS); complete DD Form 2807-1 and DD Form 2808
• Review civilian medical documentation, make fitness-for-duty recommendations, and scan records into the Health Readiness Record (HRR)
• Initiate temporary physical profiles and document conditions falling below retention standards per AR 40-502 in MEDCHART/e-Case
• Escalate significant or red-flag clinical findings to the Deputy State Surgeon
• Educate Soldiers on available health, wellness, and prevention resources
• Support periodic PHA and Soldier Readiness Process (SRP) mass medical events

Scale: roughly 2,000 examinations per year across a population of about 4,300 Service Members.

Where You Will Work

Two Maryland military installations, about 45 minutes apart:

• Camp Fretterd Military Reservation — 5555 Rue Saint Lo Drive, Building 205, Reisterstown, MD 21136 (two days per week)
• The Flight Surgeon's Clinic — 2624 Fairview Point Road, Building E-6814, Edgewood, MD 21040 (one day per week)

Workspace, computers, telephones, office supplies, and medical instruments are all furnished on site. Telework is not authorized for this role.

Required Qualifications

You must have all of these. There is no flexibility — they are contract requirements.

2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

3. Minimum three (3) years of experience as a medical provider working directly with military populations — this one is strict and is evaluated by the Government

4. Eligibility for a Common Access Card (CAC) — requires a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 background investigation. You must be able to pass an FBI fingerprint check and complete an e-QIP questionnaire.

5. Fluent English — able to read, write, understand, and speak fluently with Soldiers, unit leadership, and other healthcare providers

6. Full disclosure of any past malpractice actions, claims, or charges, and any pending charges or convictions involving felonies or misdemeanors other than minor traffic violations

Strongly Preferred

• Prior military service, or prior work as a military, Guard, Reserve, or VA provider
• Direct experience with PHA, PDHA, PDHRA, or Soldier Readiness Processing
• Working familiarity with MODS, MEDCHART/e-Case, HRR, or comparable military health systems
• Working knowledge of AR 40-501 (Standards of Medical Fitness) and AR 40-502 (Medical Readiness)
• Occupational medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or emergency medicine background
• Experience with disability, DOT, or fitness-for-duty examinations
  

Compensation & Terms

• W-2 employee of K2-nho. Not 1099, not locum.
• Competitive hourly rate commensurate with credential, Maryland market, and experience - approximately $80/hr
• Approximately 24 hours per week / 1,208 hours per year
• Malpractice liability coverage under the Gonzales Act (10 U.S.C. § 1089) while performing within scope
• Paid sick leave per Executive Order 13706
• Employment is contingent on K2-nho winning the contract and on your successful background investigation and CAC issuance
