About the Role:Job Summary

Plan, coordinate, provide and evaluate education to healthcare professionals using simulation and other enhanced learning methodologies to assist the organization in meeting professional development, quality and safety goals.Incorporate critical thinking, clinical decision making, evidence-based practice and professionalism in educational programs.Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the operations of the simulation center. Operate, troubleshoot and maintain patient simulators.Collaboratively write scenarios and program simulators for realistic training opportunities. The Clinical Simulation Educator assists in the advancement of the professional practice environment by communicating the NGMC nursing strategic direction and focusing on activities that support the nursing strategic direction. Provides nursing involvement support for VOICE and the NDNQI quality teams including coaching team members in their professional participation. Assists with overall clinical governance and other projects as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Professional certification in either a clinical or education specialty within two (2) years.

  • Educational Requirements: Degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN).

  • Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of medical-surgical or critical care bedside patient care experience.

  • Other: Professional organization membership within three months of hire into the role.

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Preferred Licensure or other certifications:

  • Preferred Educational Requirements: A Masters degree (Nursing or other if possessing a BSN) within 5 (five) years.

  • Preferred Experience: Education and simulation experience.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to relay clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice/procedures to a variety of caregivers, incorporating critical thinking, population specific care, electronic documentation, patient safety, and quality healthcare delivery in classroom, simulation lab. or clinical unit settings.

  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles related to current patient assessment and direct care delivery. Ability to deliver feedback in professional and constructive but candid manner to all types of caregivers.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with various office and clinical computer systems, i.e., Microsoft office, online learning management system, electronic health record systems, simulation programs, etc.

  • Flexibility with schedules, job responsibilities, and changes in working environment. Ability to explore and develop creative alternatives to challenges.

  • Professional demeanor and demonstration of excellent communication, organizational, and relationship skills.Customer service focused.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate simulation training and education content and curricula across all healthcare disciplines.

  • Assess participant performance of clinical competencies accurately, consistently, and honestly, providing remediation suggestions/plans as necessary.

  • Perform all phases of simulation: developing & running scenarios (pre-programmed and custom), facilitating, debriefing, and evaluating.

  • Incorporate evidence-based practice, research, critical thinking, and multidisciplinary roles into simulation content.

  • Serve as professional liaison for internal and external constituencies through collaboration and effective communication.

  • Maintain current knowledge of simulation standards.

  • Maintain simulation equipment.Assembles and disassembles as necessary for repairs, relocation, or troubleshooting.

  • Ensure safety of employees and integrity of simulation equipment by being present during all assigned simulation activities.

  • Document educational outcomes and report findings as evaluation of program effectiveness and satisfaction. Identify and propose program modifications as needed.

  • Assist with BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEARS, TNCC, or other clinical instruction as needed by department.

  • Actively participate in department planning, activities, evaluation, reporting, and governance.

  • Participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement or accreditation activities as needed.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable, professional resource to new and existing employees.

  • Submits timely data/reports as directed to Supervisor.

  • Successfully completes mentoring class. Assists with mentoring of Registered Nurses when other mentor resources have been assigned. May mentor more as desired.
