They are board-certified specialists in cardiology who provide care for patients with heart-related conditions when there is a staffing shortage, during vacations, or while a permanent cardiologist is being recruited. Locum cardiologists perform the same duties as permanent staff, including diagnosing and treating heart diseases, interpreting diagnostic tests, and consulting with other healthcare professionals.
