Job description

Precision Neuroscience is building a next‑generation brain–computer interface (BCI) to heal and empower millions of people living with neurological conditions.

Our first product, Layer 7, is designed to help people with severe paralysis operate digital devices using only their thoughts—opening up new possibilities for daily life.

Our team brings together experts in neurosurgery, AI and machine learning, microfabrication, electrical engineering, clinical science, and more. We combine deep technical rigor with a people‑first mindset to turn breakthrough research into real‑world medical solutions.

As a Precision employee you’ll join one of the fastest‑moving and best‑capitalized companies in the emerging field of brain–computer interfaces. Since our founding in 2021, we have raised more than $180 million, advanced our technology through validation, and initiated human trials with leading hospitals across the country.

Job type: Full Time • Department: Software • Work type: Hybrid • USD 168,000-210,000 / year

Locations: Santa Clara, California; Addison, Texas; Indianapolis, Indiana; New York, New York; Chicago, Illinois

We are seeking an exceptional Full‑Stack Software Engineer to join our mission of advancing brain‑computer interface technology. You will design and develop complex, reusable UX including real‑time interactive analytics and rich information displays, as well as expanding our novel AI‑forward, ML‑centered cloud platform. The right candidate will own large‑scale efforts from rapid prototyping through deployment in a transformational space. Reports into Senior Director, Software Engineering.

This position will be based in our Manhattan, Santa Clara, Chicago, Indianapolis, or Addison office. We are unable to consider remote workers or individuals who are not currently based in the US and legally authorized to work in the US.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with product management and the software team to design and develop Front‑End and Backend infrastructure to serve as Precision’s clinical UX and supporting cloud platform
  • Work with design and clinical teams towards rendering engines for high‑frequency physiological data analysis, both real‑time and offline
  • Develop critical APIs and data models to support the evolution and expansion of Precision’s patient information and management platform
  • Perform rapid prototyping cycles to discover and evaluate new concepts and de‑risk technical pathways
  • Operate within an IEC 62304‑compliant Software Development Life Cycle, meeting necessary compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Provide necessary training and support for field and clinical teams (up to 10% travel)
  • Generate supporting documentation as needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years' experience in full stack (Web / Backend) software engineering
  • Proven track record of full‑lifecycle development through deployment to production
  • 1+ years’ experience working with AI tooling in a commercial setting
  • Experience working with performance‑centric and/or visualization‑heavy applications
  • Experience working in a regulated space
