Description/Job Summary:
The General Maintenance Technician supports a secure federal facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program by performing general maintenance, locksmithing, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and service call response activities within a mission-critical facilities environment in Northern Virginia.
This position is responsible for supporting daily facilities operations involving doors, locks, hardware, carpentry, plumbing fixtures, interior repairs, signage, painting, lighting, and general building systems maintenance. The technician supports operational readiness by responding to service calls, completing preventive maintenance activities, maintaining maintenance records, and supporting emergency response operations in accordance with contract requirements and Government standards.
The General Maintenance Technician works closely with site leadership, maintenance personnel, subcontractors, and Government representatives to support daily operations within a secure TS/SCI environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience supporting commercial, industrial, institutional, or federal facilities maintenance operations.
- Experience performing general maintenance and repair activities involving doors, locks, hardware, lighting, plumbing fixtures, carpentry, painting, and related building systems.
- Experience responding to service calls and performing preventive maintenance activities.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to maintain maintenance records and service call documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve general maintenance deficiencies and operational issues.
- Ability to work in a secure federal facilities environment and support emergency response activities as required.
- Fully conversant in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
Required Certifications
- Valid Driverโs License.
- EPA Certification Type I, II, or III required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience supporting DoD, IC, or other cleared federal facilities environments.
- Experience supporting TS/SCI or mission-critical facilities operations.
- Experience performing locksmithing activities involving mechanical and electronic locking systems.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance scheduling and CMMS systems such as Maximo/FEM.
- Familiarity with OPSEC, TARP, AT Level I, and HSPD-12 compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting emergency response and after-hours maintenance operations.
- Experience supporting facilities maintenance contracts in a performance-based environment.
