Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic- Locksmith in the Facilities and Plant Operations Department.

Salary Range for this position is $59,796.00 to $78,480.00 annually (depending on experience).

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic 3 - Locksmith performs journey-level maintenance and repair work across a wide range of building systems, equipment, and facilities. This hands-on role applies expertise in multiple skilled trades, including plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, and machinist work to troubleshoot complex issues, improve facility operations, and support a welcoming learning environment.

A key focus of this position is locksmithing, serving as the campus expert for the installation, repair, maintenance, and management of mechanical and electronic locking systems, digital access controls, door hardware, and key control programs. The position may also provide technical guidance and leadership on specialized maintenance projects, helping ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of campus facilities.

This position is typically scheduled to work Monday through Friday 6:00AM to 2:30PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Serve as the campus locksmith specialist by installing, repairing, re-keying, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic locking systems, digital access controls, door hardware, and keying infrastructure.
• Manage campus key control systems, including key issuance, tracking, recordkeeping, and secure access management.
• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot locking systems and access control equipment to support campus safety, security, and operational continuity.
• Perform journey-level maintenance, repair, installation, and modification work on campus buildings, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
  Install, maintain, and repair plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and structural systems to ensure safe and reliable facility operations.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnose complex issues affecting building systems, equipment, and campus infrastructure.
• Monitor and respond to building system, safety, fire protection, and environmental control issues, taking appropriate corrective and emergency action as needed.
• Support facility renovation, construction, and improvement projects through skilled trades work and technical expertise.
• Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and welding equipment; perform fabrication and custom repair work as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and technical drawings to complete maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
• Develop cost estimates, evaluate repair options, and recommend practical solutions for maintenance, repair, and alteration projects.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and coordination to maintenance staff, ensuring quality workmanship, compliance with safety standards, and successful completion of assigned work.

• High school diploma or GED
• Four or more years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
