Job Description
Aramark is hiring a Locksmith - 2nd Shift to support facilities operations at the University of Hartford.
This is a hands-on skilled trades position responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, and supporting locks, doors, hardware, and building access systems across campus facilities. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently during second shift operations.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining campus security, supporting emergency response needs, and ensuring university facilities remain safe, operational, and secure for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Shift Information
2nd Shift Schedule: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Evening and weekend flexibility may be required based on operational needs and campus events.
Compensation Data
COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $30.00 to $40.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities
What You'll Do
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain locks, cylinders, keys, panic hardware, door closers, and related security hardware
  • Troubleshoot issues involving doors, locking mechanisms, and access systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance on doors, hardware, and building security systems
  • Respond to service calls and emergency maintenance requests throughout campus
  • Maintain records related to keys, lock changes, and hardware inventory
  • Support campus lockout requests and rekeying projects
  • Inspect campus facilities routinely and identify maintenance or security concerns
  • Coordinate repairs and communicate major maintenance needs to leadership
  • Follow all safety procedures, building standards, and university compliance requirements
  • Maintain professionalism while working in occupied campus environments

  • Previous locksmith, facilities maintenance, or building trades experience preferred
  • Experience with commercial doors, hardware, and locking systems strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently during evening operations
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple work orders in a fast-paced campus environment

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance experience preferred
  • Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
