Job description

Job ID: 725706BR Date posted: Apr. 28, 2026
Description:Determines methods and sequences of operations, and maintains, repairs, services, modifies, and installs all types of machine tools and fabrication machines, such as NC, CNC, DNC machines, robots, or other equipment. Employing multiple types of advanced and/or conventional control systems where it is required to work to exacting tolerances by exercising a complete knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and component functions, machine and component rebuilding and modification theory, techniques and practices, and hydraulics as related to the isolation of servo-control and mechanical drive system malfunctions. Troubleshoots integrally related mechanical and hydraulic drive, control, and traversing systems to isolate malfunctions. Disassembles, repairs, or replaces defective parts, and makes exacting coordinated adjustments as necessary to maintain electronic-hydraulic control sensitivity requirements and overall machine efficiency. Installs or works with manufacturers' personnel in installing machine tools and equipment and test-operates, reworks, and makes adjustments to ensure that performance characteristics agree with applicable specifications. Disassembles, services, and reassembles delicate mechanical and hydraulic functional mechanisms especially vital to machine operations where extreme care must be exercised to avoid damage or introduction of error into system through improper parts alignment and adjustment. Tears down, overhauls, and rebuilds primary machine drive, control and carriage traversing systems of machine tools fabrication machines to restore to manufacturers' original specifications when it is no longer practical or possible to make such machines useful to production by normal service maintenance and repair operations. Sets up and operates machines as necessary to ensure proper machine operation and tolerance prior to release to production personnel. Makes special modifications to and adapts partially automated machines and plant equipment to improve overall performance characteristics and to satisfy special purpose manufacturing and plant requirements. Makes precision layouts, works to exacting tolerances and exercises a high degree of ingenuity in improvising and adapting aids such as hydraulic test benches for the rebuilding, maintenance and testing of machine components and accessories, and in developing new skills and techniques relating to malfunction diagnoses.
