Job description

Bartender

Shamin Hotelsย  |ย  Virginia Beach, VA

Pay: $5.00 per hour (base), plus tips

Shamin Hotels is seeking a friendly, professional Bartender to craft and serve drinks and create a welcoming bar experience for our guests. If you make great drinks, read a room, keep your bar clean and stocked, and serve responsibly, we'd love to meet you. This role reports to the Bar Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Set up the bar with supplies, garnishes, glassware, and product before service to ensure smooth flow.
  • Display products correctly to enhance sales and showcase selection.
  • Prepare and serve drink orders from guests and servers using standard pours and recipes; ensure accuracy.
  • Ring drink orders into the register, collect payment, and make correct change; handle cash and credit transactions per standard operating procedure.
  • Give immediate, attentive service to all guests; listen well and take genuine interest in guest relations.
  • Inform guests of daily specials and featured selections.
  • Verify accuracy of prices, tips, and charges on all checks.
  • Advise a supervisor of any guest complaints as soon as they occur.
  • Close down the bar: secure and lock inventory, clean and sanitize the bar, and put supplies away.
  • Assist servers with food and beverage service when needed.
  • Attend pre-shift line-up as requested by the Supervisor or Service Director.
  • Review and turn in the Z report with the correct cash drop and credit card slips.
  • Perform clean-up and closing duties as assigned, and other job- or guest-related tasks requested by a supervisor.
  • Report to work in a neat, clean uniform with well-groomed appearance and personal hygiene.

Responsible Alcohol Service

Bartenders are personally responsible for lawful, responsible alcohol service. This includes:

  • Check identification to confirm guests are of legal drinking age, and politely refuse service to anyone underage or unable to verify age.
  • Use sound judgment in difficult situations โ€” for example, carding a suspected minor and offering water rather than confronting the guest.
  • Monitor guest consumption, recognize signs of intoxication, and take steps to prevent an intoxicated guest from driving, including offering a taxi or rideshare.
  • Do not hesitate to ask a manager to intervene when needed.

Selling or serving alcohol to a minor is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia and can carry penalties for the individual server โ€” including fines, and up to one year in jail โ€” in addition to any action affecting the establishment. Responsible service protects our guests, our licenses, and you.

Our TOP Values

  • Team Up: Collaborate, support others, and stay golden.
  • Own It: Take pride, stay accountable, and never stop learning.
  • Passionately Serve: Be positive, show you care, and create memorable experiences.

Why Work With Us

  • Competitive base pay plus tips.
  • Brand hotel and travel discounts available to all team members.
  • Shamin Perks โ€” savings on gym memberships, movie tickets, amusement parks, rental cars, and more.
  • $200 referral bonus after your referral completes 30 days.
  • A clear path for growth across a multi-property regional portfolio.

Schedule

This is an hourly, tipped position paid bi-weekly. Availability for varied shifts โ€” including evenings, weekends, and holidays โ€” is required based on business needs.

Benefit eligibility is determined by employment classification (full-time or part-time) and is governed by the terms of your offer letter and applicable plan documents.
