Job description

A Creative Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for successful creative delivery and project management through planning, participating in the creation of project estimates, developing timelines and budgets, and managing the successful execution of day-to-day activities on diverse concurrent projects across multiple creative channels. The PM is responsible for translating internal and external creative requests and ideas into project plans and deliverables for retail and product packaging. 

As a Creative Project Manager, you must be an excellent communicator, an enthusiastic and proactive problem solver who works well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and someone who thrives on being engaged at all levels of the project, possessing an extreme sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability to see a project through from start to finish. Excellent time management skills are essential—both in the moment and when looking ahead, using everything about a project timeline and team’s strengths to perform risk assessments and spot bottlenecks before they turn into real issues.


Work Environment:

At Duluth Trading Company, we value face-to-face interactions that foster our culture of learning, creativity, and teamwork. The role is based at our headquarters near Madison, WI. You will work in the office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Fridays if you prefer.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Efficiently and effectively manage day-to-day problems and communicate effectively in difficult and time sensitive situations. Understand when (and why) to escalate issues. Facilitate meetings, and ensure the team receives clear direction for next steps
  • Deliver multiple, often concurrent projects: error free, on time or early, on or under budget, all while meeting or exceeding creative objectives and expectations
  • Support the prioritization of competing needs with good reasoning and creative solutions by coordinating resource across multiple project initiatives and teams
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and stakeholder team members, establishing a role as a trusted resource and advisor
  • Recent experience with project management tool(s) that includes maintenance of key project details and budgets/estimates while managing assignments and schedules for team members
  • Experience with Retail and Packaging is a must. Experience with multi-channel environment—print, digital, presentation, video, content management—is a very nice to have.
  • Ability to write clear and detailed project requests/briefs for Creative team and answer any internal and external questions
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced creative environment
  • Conduct Workfront training, including on-boarding new team members, system upgrades and team communication on user changes
  • Perform daily business administration duties and technical support in Workfront including custom form build outs, project templates, reports and dashboards as needed to support each functional business area
  • A demonstrated track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound critical thinking skills and maintain composure in stressful situations

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Creative, or related field
    • Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced creative environment managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a proven ability to use analytical, innovative and quick-on-your-feet thinking to deliver major projects on time and on budget
  • Production Management (Print/Digital) experience from a Creative Agency or In-House Agency; working closely with Design/Creative teams, and an understanding of the different specifications and processes for print and digital design production is highly preferred
  • Experience managing retail creative, retail visual merchandising and product packaging
  • Experience managing design and creative process ensuring that the team provides both high-quality and cost-effective deliverables while upholding the brand standards and acting as a brand steward
  • Experience with oversight of third-party relationships including Print, Media, Photography, Video, and Localization providers as well as ongoing vendor management and cost negotiation
  • Understand Duluth Trading Co. creative management systems and tools or similar applications (Adobe Creative Cloud, Workfront, SharePoint, estimating, financial tracking, time tracking, project timeline applications, etc.)
  • Experience with file and asset management in a shared server environment with strong understanding of required asset type by final deliverable
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Physical Environment & Travel Expectations:

  • Travel is required for less than 10% of company-related meetings, programs, and/or events.
  • Sitting is required for 90% of working hours.
  • Standing is required for 10% of working hours.
  • Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movement (ie: typing)
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, and bending.
  • Noise level no greater than casual conversation.
  • Ability to perform work in cubicle workstations or an office setting.
  • Work in temperatures ranging from 65 - 75 degrees.

Position Compensation Outline 

Compensation Range: $56,000 to $80,000/year 

This position is eligible to participate in the company bonus program. 

Compensation listed is for the full-time position at this specific location and is based on several factors, including experience, and qualifications. Benefits and perks may have eligibility requirements and are subject to change.
