Description
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing, supplier development, and cost engineering strategies that support production, new product development, and long-term business growth. This role partners with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Program Management, Quality, and Finance to optimize cost, improve supplier performance, mitigate supply risk, and ensure successful product launches.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, manufacturing processes, and cost engineering, with the ability to identify value engineering opportunities and drive cross-functional collaboration across a global supply base.
Key Job Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute global sourcing and commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead supplier selection, RFQs, negotiations, and commercial agreements.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships across electronic components, displays, machined parts, die castings, plastics, fabricated metals, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Monitor supplier performance, market trends, and emerging technologies.
Cost Engineering & Value Optimization
- Lead cost reduction and value engineering initiatives through should-cost analysis and manufacturing process knowledge.
- Partner with Engineering on Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM), Design-for-Assembly (DFA), and Design-to-Cost (DTC) initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost through material selection, process improvements, supplier competitiveness, and design optimization.
- Support customer quotations and annual productivity initiatives.
New Product Development & Supplier Development
- Support supplier selection, prototype sourcing, APQP, PPAP, tooling, and production readiness for new product launches.
- Assess supplier capabilities and lead supplier improvement initiatives.
- Ensure sourcing strategies align with program timing, quality, and cost objectives.
Supply Chain Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Support localization, supplier transitions, inventory optimization, and supply continuity.
- Evaluate make-versus-buy decisions and supply chain risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop supplier performance metrics and lead cross-functional sourcing and cost reduction projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, or cost engineering.
- Experience sourcing machined components, die castings, injection molded plastics, fabricated metals, electronics, or electromechanical assemblies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and should-cost analysis.
- Experience with value engineering, DFM/DFA/DTC methodologies, and supplier commercialization.
- Proven success negotiating supplier agreements and leading cost reduction initiatives.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
