Localization Product Manager information

What is a localization product manager?

Localization Product Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the adaptation of products, such as software, websites, or content, for different languages and cultural markets. They coordinate between development, marketing, and localization teams to ensure products meet the needs of users in various regions. Their role involves managing translation workflows, setting localization strategies, and ensuring quality and consistency across all localized versions. By doing so, they help organizations effectively reach global audiences and enhance user experience across different markets.

How does a localization product manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during the product development lifecycle?

Localization Product Managers regularly work with engineering, design, marketing, and regional teams to ensure products are accurately adapted for various markets. They coordinate with developers to integrate localization workflows, partner with translators and linguists for quality content, and consult with marketing and customer support to align on regional messaging. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate for localization needs while balancing project timelines and business goals. Collaboration is ongoing from initial planning through post-launch updates, making teamwork a core part of the job.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a localization product manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Localization Product Manager, you need expertise in product management, localization processes, and cross-cultural communication, usually supported by a degree in business, language studies, or a related field. Familiarity with localization tools (such as CAT tools, TMS platforms), agile project management software, and sometimes certifications like PMP or Agile are typically required. Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you coordinate across global teams and manage complex projects. These skills ensure that products are successfully adapted for international markets, meeting both quality standards and business goals.

Job description

Company
Credit Genie is a mobile-first financial wellness platform designed to help individuals take control of their financial future. We leverage artificial intelligence to provide personalized insights and are building a financial ecosystem by offering tools and services that provide instant access to cash, and building credit. Our goal is to empower every customer to achieve long-term financial stability.
Founded in 2019 by Ed Harycki, former Swift Capital Founder (acquired by PayPal in 2017). Backed by Khosla Ventures and led by industry pioneers from companies such as; PayPal, Square, and Cash App, we are well positioned to build the future of inclusive finance through cutting-edge technology and customer-centric solutions.
About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Product & Program Manager who thrives at the intersection of product thinking and execution discipline. This is a role for someone who can define what we build and make sure it actually ships- on time, with the right quality, and with full cross-functional alignment.
You will own the full product development lifecycle for key initiatives: from shaping requirements and writing specs to running agile ceremonies, managing dependencies, and tracking the metrics that tell us whether we are winning. You will work closely with engineering, design, data, and business stakeholders to keep our teams moving fast without losing clarity on what matters most.
If you have built products at a high-growth fintech or payments company, know how to translate ambiguity into actionable tickets, and can hold a room of engineers and designers accountable while keeping the energy collaborative.
What you'll do
  • Partner with engineering and design to define product requirements, write clear specs, and prioritize features and bugs that move our core metrics.
  • Lead planning and execution across product and engineering initiatives, ensuring goals, timelines, and deliverables are clearly defined and aligned.
  • Drive agile methodologies- facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives to maintain team velocity and morale.
  • Own ticket and task hygiene: ensure all work is actionable, well-documented, and sized correctly before it enters a sprint.
  • Monitor project health, identify risks early, and communicate status clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and metrics that give the team and leadership real-time visibility into progress, velocity, and product outcomes.
  • Measure the success of launched features and iterate based on data, user feedback, and business goals.
  • Work closely with design, developers, and QA to ensure delivery meets functional requirements and user expectations.
  • Interface comfortably with technical complexity- understand system architecture, API dependencies, and infrastructure constraints well enough to unblock teams and make smart tradeoffs.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or a closely related role at a technology company.
  • Demonstrated ability to own both the "what" (product definition, requirements, roadmap) and the "how" (execution, sprint management, cross-team coordination).
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services. You understand how payment infrastructure, compliance constraints, and customer trust intersect.
  • Strong command of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and the judgment to know when to adapt the process to fit the team.
  • Comfort with technical depth: APIs, mobile app development, data pipelines, and dev ops concepts should feel familiar, not foreign.
  • Exceptional communication skills. You can write a crisp one-pager, run a tight stand-up, and give a clear status update to a C-suite audience.
  • Proficiency with project management and product tooling such as Jira, Asana, Linear, or similar.
  • Analytical orientation: you default to metrics and data when evaluating success, and you know how to build dashboards that teams actually use.
  • Experience shipping mobile products (iOS and/or Android).

Nice to Have
  • Background working at a high-growth startup, ideally pre-IPO or Series A-C stage.
  • Experience with eCommerce or consumer financial products.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered features or data-driven personalization products.
  • Engineering, computer science, or quantitative degree.
  • Experience with localization, internationalization, or international market launches.
