What is localization and why is it important?

Localization is the process of adapting content, products, or services to meet the language, cultural, and other specific requirements of a target market or region. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a localization specialist?

To thrive as a Localization Specialist, you need proficiency in multiple languages, a deep understanding of cultural nuances, and a relevant degree such as linguistics or translation studies. Familiarity with CAT tools (like SDL Trados or memoQ), localization management systems, and sometimes certifications like ATA or ISO are commonly required. These competencies are essential for delivering accurate, culturally appropriate content that resonates with target audiences and supports business expansion.
