Job Summary:

The supervising attorney for the Legal Clinic in Lima works full-time and year-round.
As the Lawyers = Justice Coordinator, the supervising attorney mentors and supports a cohort of program Fellows as they establish and develop law practices in surrounding rural Ohio communities. This includes assisting Fellows with practice management, professional development, integration into local legal communities, and collaboration with law students assigned to work with the Fellow on cases.
Under the direction of the Director of Legal Clinics, the supervising attorney will also assist in supervising and assessing law students, assisting with case rounds and clinic and externship educational program planning, and participating in orientation, recruitment, trainings, and community events.

Job Description:

In the role of the Lawyers = Justice Coordinator, the supervising attorney meets regularly with program Fellows to provide mentorship, case consultation, and professional guidance; assists Fellows in establishing and operating solo or small law practices; facilitates collaboration between Fellows and law students working on Fellow cases; and helps Fellows integrate into local bar associations, courts, and community organizations. The supervising attorney also assists with case coverage during Fellow to help ensure continuity of client representation.

Under the direction of the Director of Legal Clinics, the supervising attorney will also supervise clinic students, support case strategy discussions, and assist with case coverage, including serving as attorney of record as assigned.

Vacations should be scheduled around the requirement of maintaining effective case coverage. Some evening and occasional weekend hours will be expected.

The supervising attorney works under the supervision of the Director of Legal Clinics and may be assigned additional responsibilities by the Director.
