Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University is seeking a Laundry Attendant/Sewing Worker for the Laundry Department within Dining Services. Under the guidance and supervision of a Laundry Group Leader or other senior dining service worker, performs laundry procedures. Also operates sewing machine and handles sewing work.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Receives soiled laundry, counts and verifies against receipt for accuracy. Informs Laundry Group Leader of discrepancies.
  • Sorts laundry, loads washing machines, adds detergent and/or other laundry products. Washes, dries, folds or hangs items. Sorts according to operating units.
  • Maintains facilities and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Operates sewing machine and attachments to repair uniforms, draperies, curtains, etc.
  • Mends, fits, tailors, and irons uniforms, linens, draperies, curtains, etc. Reports questionable conditions to supervisor. Performs related duties as required.
