Job description

Job Title: Server Administrator III (Contract)
Company: System One
Location: Corvallis, OR (Hybrid - must be within 2-hour commute of Hillsboro, OR)
Position Type: Contract Assignment
Duration: Through 2026 with potential extension into 2027+
Position Overview
System One is seeking an experienced Server Administrator III to support enterprise IT operations and high-performance computing (HPC) environments. This role will provide technical leadership, support system reliability, and assist in implementing infrastructure initiatives that support engineering and advanced technical programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Linux-based systems in high-availability environments
  • Administer enterprise storage, backup, and recovery systems
  • Support and resolve HPC-related issues across Linux and Windows platforms
  • Coordinate server and storage maintenance with internal teams and vendors
  • Support application deployments in collaboration with project teams
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide remote support as needed
  • Maintain system stability, performance, and security across infrastructure

  • Experience with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as RHCSA, MCSA, VCP or similar
  • Experience with:
    • Hybrid cloud environments
    • Containers / Kubernetes
    • Virtual desktop infrastructure
  • Background supporting regulated industries (nuclear, DOE, etc.)
  • Eligibility under DOE 10 CFR Part 810
