PURPOSEย 
The purpose of the Sales Manager position is to perpetuate and implement company strategies and policies to increase sales growth. The Sales Manager will beย 
responsible for managing and directing all sales activities within their designated responsibilities. Additional responsibility is to lead, guide, coach, mentor, andย 
manage the sales team with the goal of increasing market share

ESSENTIAL DUTIESย 

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales team capable of achieving sales objectives. ย 
  • Set clear performance expectations, sales targets, and KPIs for team members. ย 
  • Develop and implement local sales initiatives in line with national sales strategy ย ย 
  • Drive account growth and increased market penetration within assigned geographic territory ย 
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings ย 
  • Monitor sales productivity within assigned geographic territory ย ย 
  • Elevate and report market trends, developments and competitor information to sales management as necessary ย ย 
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable cost control measures ย ย 
  • Accurately forecast sales dollars based on territory account alignment ย ย 
  • Create and manage profitable relationships between distributors, customers, and other SMC representatives ย 
  • Training of junior level sales staff in SMC products, industries and customers, as well as sales skills and SMC sales tool use and resource identification ย  ย 
  • Conduct distributor training as necessary to ensure proper understanding of SMC products and industries to drive market penetration growth through SMC business partners ย 
  • Monitor and leverage your team in CRM activity for sales calls, projects, opportunities, contacts, leads, success reports and tasks assigned ย ย 
  • Development of junior level sales professionals for future management roles โ€“ coach, guide, lead ย 
  • Represent SMC at industry trade shows and local job fairs ย 
  • Define and implement standardized sales processes, methods, and best practices to streamline operations and improve efficiency ย 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to align sales efforts with company objectives ย 
  • Leverage CRM systems and sales analytics tools to track sales performance, forecast revenue ย 
  • Consistent OJT through ride-a-longs with your local team ย 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTย ย

  • Fast paced environment (including both office and field work) ย ย 
  • Travel with some extended stay away from home ย 
  • Physically capable of lifting SMC products and displays up to 50 lbs. ย 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSย ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related technical field, or equivalent experience ย 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experienceย 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with SMC or equivalent industrial sales experience ย 
  • Successfully complete the Sales Management training ย ย 
  • Thorough knowledge of SMC products and procedures ย ย 
  • Thorough knowledge of SMC Sales strategies ย ย 
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills ย ย 
  • Proficient in the CRM and the use of computers and ability to learn new programs and tools as required ย ย 
  • Clean driving record ย ย
