Job description

Lowboy Driver I

Branch is searching for an experienced and safety-oriented Lowboy Driver to join our well-established, growing company. The Lowboy Truck Driver operates heavy duty truck typically designed and used for "off road" transportation of earth, rock or other mass or bulk materials. This position will also be driving a Dump Truck when needed.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Inspect truck for any defective items at the beginning and end of each work day per DOT requirements.
  • Prepare a daily drivers log book per DOT regulations and submit to dispatcher on a daily basis.
  • Perform pre-start-up inspection of road tractors and equipment to ensure all fluid levels, grease, tire pressures, hydraulic lines, batteries, etc. are in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
  • Have, keep, and maintain in effect a current commercial driver's license and medical card in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Perform a mechanical inspection on every piece of equipment hauled and turn in a vehicle inspection report daily.
  • Complete all required documents, driver's daily log, time sheets, inspection report, etc. and submit to dispatcher each workday by 7:30 AM.
  • Upon receiving instructions from dispatcher, equipment will be loaded and delivered to the job site on a timely basis.
  • Report all mechanical malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
  • The main mission of a tractor trailer driver is to pickup and deliver equipment to all job sites in a safe and timely manner as possible.
  • May perform other related duties.

  • DOT experience preferred, but not required

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
