Job Description

NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago News are seeking an inter to work alongside producers and news reporters. This internship offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to collaborate with teams across both stations, gaining exposure to a wide range of news coverage and storytelling.

The ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, and passionate about uncovering stories others may overlook. Good investigative interns are curious and persistent, enjoy researching new sources, work diligently to uncover facts, and adapt quickly as assignments and priorities evolve.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in daily editorial process: planning, researching, analyzing documents, making phone calls to track down stories, researching story tips and ideas
  • Talking to viewers and tipsters in Spanish and English
  • Helping with numbers and statistics
  • Tracking down video and logging tapes
  • Assist with web articles in Spanish and English
  • Pre-interviewing and field producing

This internship runs on an Academic Year through April 2027:

  • Applications Close: August 28, 2026, at 11:59 pm CT.
  • Recent graduates will NOT be eligible for this program
  • Internships at NBCUniversal are paid and do not require course credit

Qualifications

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed part-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
