Job Summary - Mobile Locksmith Technician - Dallas, Texas
Join The Hillman Group's Mobile Automotive Locksmith Team
The Hillman Group is expanding its innovative mobile locksmith services and is seeking a skilled Mobile Locksmith Technician to support our growing Dallas market. In this role, you'll partner with an Automotive Mobile Sales Representative while operating a fully equipped mobile service van to provide automotive key replacement, key programming, and locksmith solutions directly to customers.
We're looking for a customer-focused professional who combines technical expertise with exceptional service and takes pride in delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
Position Summary
As a Mobile Locksmith Technician, you'll operate a fully equipped mobile locksmith van, traveling throughout the Dallas area to assist customers with automotive key and locksmith needs. You'll work alongside an Automotive Mobile Sales Representative to provide professional on-site service while helping establish the standard for Hillman's mobile locksmith operations. Current Texas Locksmith License, OR the ability to renew, reactivate, or obtain an active Texas locksmith license upon hire.

What You'll Do
  • Cutting and programming automotive keys and key fobs for a variety of vehicle makes and models.
  • Assisting customers with automotive locksmith services in the field.
  • Operating and maintaining electronic and manual key-cutting equipment.
  • Managing inventory, parts, and supplies within the mobile service van.
  • Scheduling and coordinating customer appointments and service visits.
  • Maintaining the van in a clean, organized, and showroom-ready condition.
  • Troubleshooting automotive key and transponder issues using specialized equipment and software.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service while representing The Hillman Group professionally at customer locations.
  • Collaborating with leadership to continuously improve processes and support the growth of the mobile locksmith program.

Skills you will need
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Texas Automotive Locksmith License, OR the ability to renew, reactivate, or obtain an active Texas locksmith license upon hire.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience using aftermarket key programming and cloning equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a mobile service operation.

Preferred
  • Experience in automotive locksmithing, automotive services, retail services, or other technical customer-facing roles.
  • Experience working with a variety of OEM transponder systems and keys.
  • Knowledge of OEM subscriptions and J2534 Pass-Thru programming.
  • Experience using and maintaining electronic and manual key-cutting machines.

*This position pays $25/ hour plus 5% commission on sales and includes a company van and fuel card for business use. Typical hours are 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Thursday-Monday or Friday-Tuesday, with weekends required. Schedule and hours may vary based on business needs. Travel to one store per day within a 50-mile radius is required.
