These drivers must follow strict safety regulations and procedures to safely handle, load, and deliver dangerous goods such as chemicals, fuel, or gases. They are required to have a commercial driver's license (CDL) with a hazardous materials (Hazmat) endorsement, and they play a critical role in ensuring both public safety and environmental protection during transportation.

Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, and safety inspection tools is typically required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies are vital to ensure the safe transport of hazardous materials, compliance with legal standards, and protection of public safety.
