Role Description

The Government Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Orlando, FL, responsible for driving sales growth within federal, state, and local government agencies, military organizations, and defense markets.

Direct government sales experience is required. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of selling to government customers and managing the government procurement and contracting process. This is not a general sales or business development position. The ideal candidate will have established experience navigating government purchasing requirements, identifying government opportunities, responding to RFQs/RFPs, and closing government contracts.

The Government Sales Manager will manage the full government sales cycle, including prospecting, opportunity identification, qualification, proposal development, RFQ/RFP responses, negotiations, and contract awards. The role will also involve developing relationships with government decision-makers, procurement officials, military organizations, defense contractors, and system integrators.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute government sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth objectives.
  • Prospect for and develop new business opportunities with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Manage the complete government sales cycle from opportunity identification through contract award and account management.
  • Identify and pursue government solicitations, RFQs, RFPs, and other procurement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, military organizations, defense contractors, prime contractors, and system integrators.
  • Prepare and coordinate proposals, quotations, and responses to government requirements.
  • Develop strategic account and territory plans focused on government revenue growth.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, pipeline activity, and government opportunity tracking.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and other internal teams to develop solutions that meet government and mission requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of government procurement procedures, contracting requirements, FAR/DFARS, and relevant regulations.
  • Represent Laser Photonics at government and defense conferences, trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Travel as required to meet with government customers, military organizations, defense contractors, and industry partners.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of direct government sales experience.
  • Proven track record of selling products, equipment, or technical solutions directly to government customers.
  • Demonstrated success managing the government sales cycle, including prospecting, opportunity development, RFQs/RFPs, proposals, negotiations, and contract awards.
  • Experience selling to federal, state, and/or local government agencies.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement and purchasing processes.
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, RFQs, RFPs, and government contracting requirements.
  • Experience selling technical, industrial, manufacturing, or capital equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Defense, aerospace, military, or government manufacturing sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Existing relationships with government agencies, military organizations, defense contractors, prime contractors, or system integrators are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new government business through proactive prospecting and account development.
  • Experience with territory planning, sales forecasting, pipeline management, and strategic account development.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand technical products and communicate their value to government and technical decision-makers.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work on-site in Orlando, Florida, and travel as required.
