Job description

We are looking for an experienced Government/SLED/Federal Business Development professional with a proven track record of developing public-sector business, building relationships with prime contractors, and identifying government staffing opportunities at an early stage.

The role will focus on market research, opportunity identification, customer and partner engagement, capture strategy, and developing relationships that position the company for upcoming government contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Federal, State, and Local Government (SLED) markets.
  • Build relationships with prime contractors and organizations that utilize subcontractors.
  • Research upcoming procurements and engage with relevant stakeholders to understand future requirements.
  • Conduct customer and partner outreach to identify staffing and workforce needs.
  • Develop early-stage capture strategies for upcoming government opportunities.
  • Position Procyon as a qualified staffing and subcontracting partner.
  • Understand and navigate RFP, RFI, RFQ, proposal, bid, and contract award processes.
  • Track government procurement activity, solicitations, contract vehicles, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Develop partnerships with prime contractors and identify opportunities for subcontracting participation.
  • Collaborate with recruiting and delivery teams to develop solutions for government staffing requirements.
  • Manage opportunities from initial identification through proposal, negotiation, and contract award.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of Government, Federal, SLED, or Public Sector Business Development/Sales experience.
  • Proven success developing new government business and winning contracts.
  • Strong understanding of RFP, RFI, RFQ, proposal, and government procurement processes.
  • Experience building relationships with prime contractors and public-sector stakeholders.
  • Experience selling IT Staffing, Professional Services, Workforce Solutions, or Consulting Services preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities before formal solicitation.
  • Strong networking, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven hunter mentality with a track record of generating new business and new logos.
  • Ability to independently build and manage a government business pipeline.
