Requirements

CMT

Certified Medication Aides (CMA/CMT's) are health-care professionals who are responsible for providing basic care to residents to maintain or regain physical, mental, and emotional well-being through quality of care and quality of life tasks including but not limited to dispensing medications per State standards and practice guidelines. Aides in this capacity are certified nurse aides (CNAs) through successful completion of training in a State approved training course AND successful completion of training in a State approved medication aide training program. Certified Medication Aides work in collaboration with registered nurses. Certified Medication Aides are expected to perform basic CNA duties as needed. The primary purpose of the job position of a Certified Medication Aide is to dispense resident medications as ordered by the physician following standard of practice for medication administration.

The Certified Nursing Assistant cares for residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse. The position requires patience, compassion, and a desire to care for the residents in a gentle and empathetic manner.
