Job Summary

Gaston Electrical is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. Position Overview

In our climate-controlled shop, you will learn about and safely assemble various electrical components that will be installed on our various projects. This is a great opportunity if you're interested in getting into the Local 103 Union apprenticeship program and subsequently working on a jobsite.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Learn how to splice wires and make connections; put together in-wall box assemblies
  • Understand power, lighting, and equipment wiring
  • Prepare wiring for light fixtures and install
  • Wire panelboards according to spec
  • Bend conduit (pipes) and assembly
  • Thread pipe - rigid conduit
  • Clean and maintain work areas
  • Receive, verify and package product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
  • Stage product for loading
  • Read and understand prefabrication prints
Qualifications
  • ย Interested in learning the electrical trade
  • Interested in joining IBEW Local 103
  • Reading, writing and arithmetic skills
  • Punctual and excellent attendance
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and handling small parts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk, stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to get to Gaston Prefab shop daily
