Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Loan Coordinator / Mortgage Operations Specialist to join our growing mortgage team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring every loan file moves efficiently from application through processing. The ideal candidate is proactive, thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates well with borrowers and team members, and is committed to providing an exceptional client experience.

Work Location: This is an in-person position based in our Wallingford, Connecticut office. Candidates should be available to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and issue initial loan disclosures accurately and promptly.
  2. Request and organize documentation from borrowers during the pre-underwriting process.
  3. Submit TBD (To Be Determined) underwriting approvals when appropriate.
  4. Coordinate with LOA1 regarding lead intake, file setup, and new loan review.
  5. Submit complete loan files to the processing department.
  6. Monitor and oversee the active loan pipeline to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
  7. Attend weekly pipeline meetings every Tuesday and Thursday to provide file updates and identify potential issues.
  8. Occasionally assist with pre-qualifying and pre-approving homebuyers.
  9. Maintain accurate loan records and ensure compliance with company and investor guidelines.
  10. Provide administrative support to the mortgage team as needed.
  11. Assist with special projects and operational initiatives to improve workflow and efficiency.

Qualifications

  1. Previous mortgage, banking, or real estate industry experience preferred.
  2. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to manage multiple files and priorities simultaneously.
  5. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Proficient with Microsoft Office and mortgage loan origination systems (experience with Encompass is a plus).
  7. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  8. Professional, dependable, and customer-service oriented.
