Job description

Loan Processor

A local community bank is looking for a Loan Processor with experience in Commercial, Consumer, and mortgage loans. This position can be fully remote.

This role demands a strong understanding of banking regulations, especially in the lending sector. You will be responsible for processing loan requests efficiently and accurately, including conducting credit investigations, preparing documents, and onboarding loans. Additionally, you will support the Loan Department with various tasks and special projects related to both new and existing loan customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Loan Department in managing customer loans. Tasks include running credit reports, retrieving flood determinations, ordering appraisals and title work, and conducting account research as needed.
  • Assist lending officers with the preparation of pre-funding documents, HMDA data collection, loan documentation checklists, and utilizing external resources like the Military Lending Account and Geocoding to ensure proper loan package submissions to the Loan Processing department.
  • Ensure proper preparation of loan disbursement entries (such as cashier's checks, deposits, and wire transfers) on the signing date, in line with instructions from the Lender.
  • Process payments to third-party vendors, including appraisers, insurance companies, and title insurers.
  • Manage collateral perfection duties, such as recording mortgages, UCCs, CNS filings, and managing titled units.
  • Oversee and maintain loan files for customers.
  • Monitor and update the loan system to ensure customer financial data is current and that collateral is secured. Key items tracked include mortgages, title policies, UCC filings, lien cards, collateral insurance, customer financial statements, and more.
  • Handle document imaging for complete loan files.
  • Process loan payoff requests and payments.
  • Monitor the loan payoff report to ensure all necessary actions are taken to close out loans and release collateral per the lender's direction.
  • Prepare routine letters, reports, and forms.
  • Offer support across all areas of the office as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service for inquiries related to customer deposit account balances, loan balances, and payoff requests.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in the loan support area, including refilling copiers, fax machines, and printers, and ensuring the relevance of marketing materials and publications in customer access areas and the bank lobby.
  • Generate adverse action notices when required and maintain existing loans within the iCore system.

Qualifications:

  • Keep updated on banking regulations and industry standards.
  • Proficient with LaserPro, the bank's loan processing software.
  • Familiar with the operational functions of the iCore system.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system errors.
  • Mathematical aptitude and the capability to perform calculations as needed.
  • Attend department meetings and training sessions as required.
  • High School Diploma.
