Position Overview

The Loan Support Specialist provides operational and administrative support for the organization’s daily loan servicing activities. This role performs a variety of loan servicing functions, account maintenance activities, member support responsibilities, and operational research tasks to support an efficient and compliant lending operation. The Specialist is responsible for delivering quality member service while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness within established procedures and guidelines.

  • This role is eligible for a $500 sign-on bonus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Research & Operational Support

  • Complete research and account adjustments to ensure account accuracy and proper servicing.
  • Document quality control findings in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify operational concerns or trends and communicate findings to senior team members or management.
  • Escalate complex servicing or operational issues as appropriate.

Loan Operations

  • Complete loan servicing transactions and file maintenance activities accurately and efficiently.
  • Respond to member and internal inquiries related to loan servicing functions including payment postings, corrections, advances, and account maintenance.
  • Process transactions necessary to secure, maintain, and release collateral security interests.
  • Communicate with members regarding insurance requirements for collateralized loans and complete force-placed insurance activities as required.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to support operational processes.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Adhere to all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of member and organizational information.
  • Support compliance reviews, operational audits, and quality assurance activities as needed.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with team members to support departmental operations and workflow efficiency.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and process improvement discussions.
  • Provide support to team members with transactional or operational questions as appropriate.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of member interactions and operational activities.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as requested.
  • Remain knowledgeable regarding changes to products, systems, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of banking, credit union, customer service, or financial services experience preferred.
  • Previous loan servicing or operations support experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as business needs require.

Interpersonal Skills:

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.
