Job Summary

The Senior SBA Loan Coordinator is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of the Small Business Administration (SBA) loan process from application through closing and funding. This role serves as a key liaison between borrowers, underwriters, loan officers, closing teams, and SBA departments to ensure smooth, accurate, and compliant processing of 7(a) and 504 loan transactions. The Senior Coordinator also provides mentoring, process oversight, and leadership to SBA Specialists, ensuring adherence to SBA SOPs and internal bank policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

    Serve as the subject matter expert on SBA loan documentation, eligibility, application packaging, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end loan process for SBA 7(a) and 504 loans, including file intake, eligibility analysis, underwriting coordination, and closing preparation.
  • Review and validate borrower documentation to ensure it meets SBA guidelines prior to submission to underwriting.
  • Work with loan officers and underwriters to gather required documents and respond to credit and SBA queries.
  • Prepare and review SBA loan application packages, including E-Tran submission, and track approvals.
  • Oversee the collection and verification of all post-approval conditions prior to closing and funding.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners (borrowers, attorneys, title companies, and SBA representatives) to coordinate loan closings.
  • Ensure complete and compliant loan files are maintained in accordance with bank and SBA record retention policies.
  • Provide training and guidance to other SBA Specialists.
  • Stay current on changes in SBA SOPs, regulatory guidance, and industry trends.
  • Adhere to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations.
  • Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest and always maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
  • Support audits, reviews, and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

JOB EVALUATION FACTORS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SBA lending or loan coordination, including extensive experience with SBA 7(a) and/or 504 loan programs.
  • Strong knowledge of the current SBA SOP and SBA E-Tran systems.
  • Experience with loan origination systems (e.g., LaserPro, nCino, or similar) is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Effective Communication - Facilitate consistent and clear communication between clients and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Problem Resolution - Handle complex quality control issues and situations, providing solutions that align with policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Attention to Detail - Must have good typing and clerical skills, as well as accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Organized and efficient - must be able to prioritize work assignments in a consistent manner to ensure timely and efficient production.
