Loading Dock Associate

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Dock Attendant. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Purchasing Manager/team in all aspects of shipping, receiving, and inventory control. Providing responsive, safe, efficient, organized, receiving and delivery service to all food & beverage outlets, kitchens, and other venues within Kalahari.

As part of our leadership team, you'll embody our Promise to Lead with Love—guiding, supporting, and inspiring associates while delivering extraordinary guest experiences. You'll play a vital behind-the-scenes role in keeping resort operations running smoothly by ensuring the timely receipt, organization, and distribution of goods and supplies. Through your attention to detail and collaboration with departments across the resort, you'll help associates have the resources they need to deliver exceptional experiences for every guest.

*** Position starting as early as September. ***

Pay Rate - $19 - $21/Hr.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the Resort.
  • Must have full knowledge of the layout of the resort and its storage facilities.
  • Maintain clean, neat, and organized service area including storerooms, coolers, and freezers.
  • Keep dry storage, cooler and freezer areas swept and mopped according to sanitation, health, and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition by handling the equipment per instruction following the preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain accurate inventory count of all stock on hand.
  • Maintain "waste" sheet.
  • Order stock and supplies.
  • Assist Department Heads and Supervisors with par levels of inventory stored and maintain a low on-hand inventory based on Kalahari requirements and business levels.
  • Follow safe food handling procedures and provide a safe environment for our guests and associates.
  • Ensure quality issuance of all products received and provide paperwork/findings on inadequate product.
What We're Looking For
  • We do require that you have the background consisting of 1-2 years of shipping, receiving and/or purchasing.
  • You must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a good understanding of basic math skills.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Ability to operate multiple computer systems, email, and telephone, including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • General Food and Beverage knowledge, involving at least 1 year of back-of-the-house operations is preferred.
  • Prior inventory/purchasing clerk and/or food and beverage, hotel/resort experience is helpful.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to frequently communicate and develop rapport with guests and associates and have a working relationship with the resort management team.
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position for long periods of times (up to 5 hours).
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work and be flexible with all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
